The installation

What the installation involves

  1. 01

Check the fixture and the location

We confirm the fixture's size and weight, the ceiling height and what is in the ceiling or wall now, so we bring the right mounting hardware and equipment.

  2. 02

    Make it safe

The circuit is switched off at the panel and tested before any wiring is touched.

  3. 03

    Remove the old fixture

If you are replacing a light, we take the old one down carefully and set it aside for you.

  4. 04

    Assemble the new fixture

Chandeliers and multi-light fixtures are assembled, including crystals, arms and shades, following the maker's instructions.

  5. 05

    Mount and connect

The bracket is secured, the chain or cord is set to the height you want, and the wiring is connected, including the ground.

  6. 06

    Test and tidy up

We check the fixture is level and working, clean up and take the packaging away.

Benefits

Why have your fixtures professionally installed

Hung at the right height

We set pendants and chandeliers to suit the table, island or stairwell, and check the height with you before finishing.

Secure mounting

Heavy fixtures need a box and bracket rated for their weight. We check this first and tell you if anything needs upgrading.

Assembly taken care of

Crystal chandeliers and multi-arm fixtures can take hours to put together. We do it for you.

High ceilings without the risk

Foyers, vaulted ceilings and stairwells need the right equipment, so you don't have to climb anything.

Good to know

Before you book

Requirements

An existing electrical box where the fixture will go, or tell us if you want it moved.

Clear space under the fixture and access to the electrical panel.

Compatibility

Most ceiling and wall fixtures fit a standard electrical box. Heavy chandeliers need a box rated for the weight, so check the weight on the box or product page.

Look for a CSA, cUL or ULC mark on the fixture. It shows the fixture is certified for use in Canada.

If you plan to dim LED fixtures, the fixture and the dimmer need to be compatible.

Installation time

A simple ceiling light swap is usually quick. Large chandeliers with many crystals take longer because of assembly. We give you an expected time when we confirm your quote.

Pricing

The estimate depends on the type of fixture, how many, the ceiling height, whether it is a new installation, a replacement or a move, and the property type.

There is a 2-item minimum per visit, so a second fixture in the same visit costs nothing extra. Estimates start at $100.

Safety

The circuit is switched off at the panel and tested before any wiring work.

We check that the box can carry the fixture's weight, and if we find an existing wiring problem we explain it before going further.

What to prepare

  • Have the fixture on site, with all parts and the instructions together.
  • Note the fixture's weight and width, especially for a chandelier.
  • Decide roughly how low you want pendants or a chandelier to hang.
  • Clear the space under the fixture.
  • Check the ceiling height, and whether the fixture is above stairs.

Questions

Something else? Call +1 (416) 857-5367 or message us on WhatsApp.

Do you assemble chandeliers?

Yes, including crystal chandeliers. The number of crystals affects the estimate, so choose it in the calculator.

Can you install a fixture above a staircase?

Yes. Choose Above stairs as the ceiling height so the estimate includes the extra equipment and time.

Can you move a light to a new spot?

Yes. Choose Relocate an existing one in the calculator. Patching and painting the old location are not included.

Can you hang a fixture I bought online?

Yes. Check that it carries a CSA, cUL or ULC mark and tell us its weight, so we can confirm it can be mounted safely.

What happens to my old fixture?

We take it down carefully and leave it with you.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes. There is a 2-item minimum per visit, so one or two fixtures are priced the same.
